It is one of the projects selected in 2004 by the European Commission under the Socrates Programme - Minerva Action. The project duration is 2 years: from 1st October 2004 to 30th September 2006. In order to develop this project, a partnership has been created, bringing together 6 institutions from 4 European countries: Spain, Finland, Portugal and Romania, and being Florida Centre de Formació (Spain) the coordinating organisation.

This project tries to link concepts such as: ICT, sustainable development, tourism and education.

In the last few years we have witnessed several changes in the prevailing tourist patterns. These changes affect not only demand but also supply behaviour. Tourist sector businesses and local authorities aware of the importance of making suitable use of resources and focused on developing environment friendly products and services are improving their status in front of the growing demand (composed by heterogeneous, exigent and well informed customers, worried about environment and sustainable development).

Environment is a fundamental element to pay attention to in any tourist initiative, and its respect and protection has become a priority objective. Evidence shows that tourist activities can cause all kinds of negative impacts. This is why sustainable management of tourist resources is the only way to ensure current and future development.

Tourist professionals cannot be passive before the technological and environmental reality. Therefore, it is essential for Tourism students to become aware of their environment and its limitations. In this context, training becomes a valuable tool, as well as collaborative work with other tourist areas in Europe and their experiences in this field.

In this context, ICT offer a suitable framework to provide a meeting point for the different agents involved in tourist education and the current reality of the geographical environment where the training is taking place (local and regional authorities, organisations involved in sustainable development in tourism...).

On the other hand, using ICT in Tourism training activities provides students with significant knowledge required to adapt to the new work patterns and technological improvements that need to be implemented in tourist organisations and, in general, in nowadays society. They must become positive role models and be conscious of their task as multiplier agents. Their attitude towards sustainable development initiatives and responsible use of ICT are essential to assure future success of environment protection culture.
